General Conditions

  1. The competition is open to all Omani Nationals and residents.
  2. Manuscripts must be the competitors’ original and unpublished work.
  3. Contestants are not allowed to resubmit a previously submitted piece into the competition including internet, blogs, online journals or in any academic or non-academic source.
  4. Candidates must be between 14-24 years of age unless otherwise specified at the initial announcement (proof of age may be required).
  5. Only one entry per category will be allowed for a maximum of two selected categories.
  6. Entries must be submitted in MS Word document and must not be formatted.
  7. Entry Forms must be submitted before entries can be considered.
  8. In order to ensure anonymity, entries must be submitted without the author's name or identity appearing on the entry.
  9. The judges reserve the right to reject entries over the choice of topic, the language used or exceeding the specified word limit.
  10. The judges’ decision is final and no appeal will be entertained.
  11. Finalists only will be notified and prizes will be awarded at an event that will be duly announced through media channels and email.
  12. Contestants can only win ONE prize per category.
  13. The closing date for submissions is 31st May 2020.

Poetry

  1. Contestants are not allowed to resubmit a previously submitted piece into the competition.
  2. Entries must be submitted in MS Word document and must not be formatted.
  3. Poems can be on any subject and in any style, but must be no more than 30 lines in length
  4. All entries must be in English and are to be submitted in digital form clearly marked and labeled with the contestant’s details. No corrections can be made after receipt, nor fees refunded. Once submitted, entries cannot be withdrawn.
  5. Entrants must be contactable at the email address they provide at the time of judging. Winners who do not respond to email contact will still be pronounced winners but will forfeit their prize if they do not claim it within 30 days of the results being published.
  6. The judges' decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into.
  7. Prize winners will be notified by email once judging is complete. Judging will begin when the competition closes and may last several months.
  8. Contestants can win only ONE prize per category
  9. Entry implies acceptance of all the terms and conditions.
  10. The closing date for submissions is 31st May 2020.

Essay

  2. Contestants are not allowed to resubmit a previously submitted piece into the competition
  3. Essays can be on any subject and in any style, but must be no more than 1500 words in length
  4. Entries must be submitted in MS Word document and must not be formatted
  5. All entries must be in English. No corrections can be made after receipt. Once submitted, entries cannot be withdrawn.
  6. Entrants must be contactable at the email address they provide at the time of judging. Winners who do not respond to email contact will still be pronounced winners but will forfeit their prize if they do not claim it within 30 days of the results being published.
